We are pleased to present the Association of Physician Assistants in Oncology (APAO) featuring Clinical Highlights of the 2009 ASCO® Annual Meeting with the 12th Annual APAO Conference and Oncology 101. The goal of these conferences is to present comprehensive clinical and surgical approaches in oncology to enhance oncology expertise and improve patient outcomes.
TARGET AUDIENCE
These conferences are designed for physician assistants, nurse practitioners, physicians and nurses who care for patients with cancer in a clinical, surgical or research setting.

- Review, summarize, and interpret new advances and implement changes in the treatment of breast cancer, gastro-intestinal cancer, genitourinary malignances, leukemia, lung cancer, lymphoma, the utilization of PAs & NPs in oncology practice and the supportive care of these diseases, which were presented at the 2008 ASCO Annual Meeting.

- Determine the benefits and risks of surgical management of gastrointestinal cancers
- List promising new techniques and new therapeutic strategies for the management of lymphoma
- Recommend appropriate treatment strategies for lymphoma
- Discuss novel agents for the treatment of hematologic malignancies and recent developments in supportive therapy
- Examine the role of biobehavioral interventions, communications, and outcomes in reducing incidence of cancer and improving survival and quality of life with cancer including social, cultural, political, and economic context of cancer prevention and control
- Foster supportive care by healthcare professionals working with cancer patients by sharing their knowledge and expertise
